NAME: James Baker
SQUAD NUMBER: 999
ROLE: Better known as ‘The Slogger’, this young lad has got no special technique, nor deefering finesse, yet the power he brings to the this inexperienced Sri Lankan side is unchallenged by any of his team mates. Despite struggling with words, he is able to do all his talking on the pitch and hopes that this tournament will make him a house hold name amongst the shanty towns of Colombo.
DEEF EXPERIENCE: An aggressive player who has come under scrutiny for knocking out Bangladeshi captain Haroon Taylor’s teeth with a dangerous bouncer, and for breaking Matt Hykin’s arm with an unfortunate slogger shot. It is not only his on field antics which have put his name on the front page of all the tabloids. His colourful personal life, which includes suggesting he wants to go on a face fucking rampage, has suggested that this player needs to mature. The upcoming tournament may be a great opportunity for this to occur therefore (let’s hope so).
THOUGHTS ON THE TOURNAMENT: “When I got the call up from the gaffa, I could hardly believe it. I never realised the coach (Graham Ford) had such faith in me but I hope that my performances in the upcoming tournament prove that I am worthy to wear the blue shirt of Sri Lanka. A special thanks must go out to my family…the stern, and often fearful, looks my mother gives me whilst I eat my dinner have inspired me to strive for the best out of life so I hope to make them all proud."
