NAME: Henry Goodwin
SQUAD NUMBER: 6
ROLE: Elegant right-handed, renowned for his streaky cover drive. Bit of a jack-of-all-trades in the field, despite being limited by excessive amounts of limb; inspired and molded by the incomparable Tony Opatha in the streets of Galle. Will hope to get some bite from the surface with his Collingwood-esque cutters. Thrives on a dustbowl, dreads a sticky-wicket.
DEEF EXPERIENCE: An enthusiastic deefer throughout the summer of 2012. Showed promise with the bat, yet often fell victim in the corridor of uncertainty to the swinging ball – always a threat to find the outside edge.
THOUGHTS ON THE TOURNAMENT: “I’d be lying if I said that this tournament hadn’t been on my mind for the past few months. This truly is the pinnacle of deef, and I am sure that John will make it a day to remember. I was delighted to receive the call-up to the Sri Lankan team, and I feel quietly confident about our chances to bring home the glory. That being said, there are some proven performers in this field, while some of the new talent can’t be underestimated. Regardless, my partner and I are in no doubt that this summer we can deef alongside the very best this tournament has to offer.”
